Annual Client Dinner 2022
Dear Friends,
Unfortunately, as Covid fades into the background new challenges emerge. We’ve talked about this before, let’s talk about it again.
Inflation at scorching levels, continued war in Ukraine, rising interest rates, and a midterm election in November, there’s no shortage of things to talk about. If you’ve attended previous client dinners, you know that we use that time to find facts, share expert opinions, and find strategy. I believe 2023 will bring a turning point in economic trends and I’m looking forward to sharing with you everything we’ve been thinking about and monitoring.
Please join us at our Tenth Annual Client dinner on Friday July 29. 2022 at the Farmington Polo Club with suggested arrival between 5 – 5:30pm.
Each summer we host this dinner as a way to communicate updates and ideas, but also for clients and friends to interact together. It’s one thing to meet with your advisor at your kitchen table but another thing altogether to talk with 200 other clients about their thoughts and ideas too. We believe that interacting together like this is an important part of the experience of working with us.
This year’s party theme will be “Kentucky Derby”!
We’ve found that our guests enjoy dressing the part, and if you’re into it you might Google up “Kentucky Derby attire” where you’ll find it’s all about the hats and the outrageous outfits. What fun! Please partake if you like. You’ll be able to attend a live polo practice with hor d’ oeuvres and signature drinks, plus an expert guide to tell you about the action and answer your questions. You can meet and greet the horses, have a photo op, and once again our good friends from the Locomotion band will also be back with their power horn section and dance grooves.
An open bar will be available from 5pm to 10pm with cash bar afterwards for our night owl friends. Plenty of parking is available on site, and our interns will be piloting a few golf carts to help those with difficulty walking get around the grounds. The cigar bar will be open after dinner, and as always if you are unable to attend the event, our friends from First Light Videography will be recording the event to be posted shortly after.

Guess what. The stimulus that we have spent to get out of Covid is now three times more than the stimulus we spent to get out of the 2008 financial crisis, which is on top of the already monumental national debt we had before we got here. We are becoming increasingly numb to the dangers of massive debt and spending, and sooner or later the other shoe will drop. It’s inevitable. It will arrive in the form of inflation, taxation, increased regulations, increased business and investment challenges, and more. And we haven’t even discussed China, Europe, or the Middle East yet. Each and every investor should take their own investment risk pulse and measure it against the State of the World today.
BUT – fun fact… the words that appear above are actually from LAST YEAR’s client dinner invitation. So, did we get it right? Are all the things we talked about last year coming to fruition now?
Each year we host this dinner so that we can talk and forecast and discuss with each other what’s going on and what we think we should do next. We think the information is spot on, and I hope this year will be no different. This market and economy is experiencing a rolling series of unsynchronized events and hopefully we can use our combined brainpower to find a path forward.
As always, the presentation will be short but poignant, fueled by the best research we can find. We’ll use the best thinking we can deploy, illustrated with graphics that helps to make a point, with our investment partners on hand to help add detail. I hope you and your guests will be able to join us once again.
